How Round Table Warriors started. What's RTW about?? I-may-13

I think even if we got a lot of hangups yet, I still admire a person who is choosing to grow from it, they make the coolest people! Joyce Meyer is one of those people for me. Like her I have been a Christian a long time and its taken me a long time to overcome some things and there are always more lessons in life to learn. Not that I'm not already saved and perfect in Christ, I am, yet i strive to know God and the power of God in my life more. I am excited about RTW, I believe this is something the Lord has put on my heart. Along with a verse that has stayed with me for months; .....be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2

I feel I will learn a lot more about renewing my mind an the Power of God and His Word, because of this forum. It will hold me more accountable to pursuing that specific purpose and also finding others who know more than I about this subject and have experienced it more. I am also blessed when I can encourage others in there spiritual walk and I've always really been blessed, (enjoyed) seeing how God works with others.

So you may be seeing a lot of quotes from Joyce Myers, Creflo Dollar, Bill Johnson, Andrew Wommack, Joseph Prince, Graham Cooke and T.D. Jake's to name a few, these are the preachers I been listening too and where I have learned the phrase "Word of faith" type preachers. Not sure what the "Word of faith movement" is all about, what it all entails, nor how these speakers differ on this subject. I have also heard some of these referred to as prosperity preachers. Not sure how much I believe or don't believe. Though I know that this is what I want to pursue at this time. I honestly believe as I grow in more understanding, I will find truth and error. Seems everything is that way. I'm ok with it, u know the saying..."don't throw out the baby with the bath water!"

If you are not comfortable "enough" with speakers such as these, I don't believe you will like RTW.  I am basing this forum on there line of thinking. What I learn in the end who know's?? But I go where I feel lead an though I have made mistakes, I am better for it today an feel God will lead me back out if that is His will, I try to listen. And right now my heart seeks to know more, hope you will join me in this journey. But if you don't feel you can support the purpose of RTW or feel too uncomfortable with looking into what these type preachers are saying, I ask you to find a forum other than this one you could support please. I am not looking for debates, I am looking for supportive seekers like myself at this time.

Change Your Thinking,
Change Your Life
Creflo Dollar

"For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he" (Proverbs 23:7). Our thinking sets the course for our lives. If we find we are not living the abundant life Jesus died to give us, we must examine our thought life. In order to prosper God's way, our thoughts must agree with His Word. The words we are exposed to on a daily basis have a huge impact on our thinking. And the condition of our minds determines the condition of our lives. Therefore, as Believers, we must go through the process of renewing our minds with the Word of God. Then, when we have thoughts that do not line up with God's Word, we can replace them with Word-based thoughts (2 Corinthians 10:5).

It is the will of God for us to prosper in every way, from our health and finances to our relationships and jobs. Every area of our lives should be an expression of abundant life. However, we prosper to the degree that our souls prosper (3 John 2). The soul is where the mind, will, and emotions reside. The mind is the primary area that Satan attacks because it is the control center of our lives. Satan's attacks consist of words and images that oppose God’s Word. He wants us to doubt God and fear that His promises will never come to pass. However, we have the power to transform our lives. Romans 12:2 says, “Be not be conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Transformation comes when we allow God’s Word to change our thinking. Many Believers wonder why their lives have not changed since they’ve been saved. The problem lies within their thinking. Many of us have nourished mindsets that oppose the Word for years and as a result, our old nature is stronger than our regenerated spirits. In order for change to occur, we must begin to nourish godly thoughts by consistently meditating on the Word. Keep in mind that change does not occur overnight; it is a process during which we must refuse to become frustrated. When we remain committed to the transformation process, we will begin to see changes takes place. Change is a lifetime endeavor, not a one-time event.

My prayer is that you will continue to conform to the image of Christ by renewing your mind with God’s Word on a daily basis, so that you can truly know His good and perfect will for your life.

Renewing Your Mind on a Subconscious Level
Creflo Dollar

Have you ever known people who accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior but still spoke, thought, and behaved the same way they did before they got saved? This scenario is not uncommon among Believers. Many times, certain behaviors are attributed to a person needing a spirit cast out of him, when, in reality, the issue is that he has not renewed his mind in a particular area. Mind renewal is the key to living a successful life as a Christian, as well as overcoming the mindsets that keep us bound in ungodly lifestyles.

As a pastor and counselor, I have encountered numerous people who struggle with addictions and all sorts of habits they just cannot seem to break. They are in torment because they know these things are wrong according to the Word of God, but they just can’t seem to find the brakes to stop. To them, change is an unattainable goal.

Whenever I see someone who is born again, but is actively engaged in a lifestyle or habit that goes against the Word, I immediately know their mindset is the problem. They have to change their thinking to line up with what God says about the situation. Without this vital step in the process of Christian development, it is impossible to see lasting change
Galatians 5:16 says something so powerful that we all need to understand and apply to our lives on a daily basis, “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” First, we must understand what it means to walk in the Spirit. When we walk in the Spirit, we have a mindset that lines up with God’s Word. It is thinking that is sound and subjected to God’s way of doing things. Walking in the flesh is the exact opposite. To walk in the flesh means to have a way of thinking that goes against the Word of God. For example, a “fleshy” mindset is one that believes having sex outside the context of marriage is okay. It is a wrong way of thinking. Walking in the Spirit in this area involves thinking that is in line with the Word, which says marriage is the only framework inside which sexual activity is acceptable.

It is critical to understand that the mind is the control center of our lives. Our dominant thought patterns and beliefs will inform and shape our behavior. Unfortunately, before coming to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, most of us picked up a lot of wrong thinking from our environment, whether it was from family, friends, television, or some other source.

But when we become born again, we must enter into the most important part of our walk with God—renewing our minds. Romans 12:1, 2 says we are not to be conformed to the world, but we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds so that we can demonstrate and prove the perfect will of God. Isn’t it exciting to know that renewing your mind has the power to absolutely transform your entire life? You can break any habit or behavior by making a quality decision to renew your mind daily through the meditation and study of God’s Word.
Renewing the mind is not a one-time event, but it is an ongoing process that must continue for the rest of our lives. We can renew our minds to the point where even our subconscious thoughts and automatic responses become aligned with the Word of God. When mind renewal takes place on this subconscious level, we are actually renewing the spirit of our minds (Ephesians 4:23). This is the depth of transformation every Believer should aspire to achieve because it is the pathway to genuinely changing our behavior.

You may be thinking your situation is so bad that you simply cannot change. I want to give you some good news today—you can! First, ask God to give you the desire to want to change. That’s right, you have to want to want change first. Then, make a commitment to the process. Find a scripture in the Bible that deals with the area you are dealing with and make it a priority to meditate on that scripture until it is more real to you than what you are going through. When you begin to think, speak, eat, and breathe the Word of God, you will begin to live it. When you find your decisions aligning with God’s Word, you will know renewing your mind is paying off!

The Way to Live with the Mind of Christ
by Joyce Meyer

One of the greatest revelations of my life is: I can choose my thoughts and think things on purpose. In other words, I don’t have to just think about whatever falls into my mind. This was a life-changing revelation for me because as Proverbs 23:7 (AMP) says, “As [a man] thinks in his heart, so is he.” I like to say it like this: Where the mind goes, the man follows.

Now God is concerned about the hidden man of the heart, which is our inner life. Our inner life is what we think about. And like the scripture above says, the way we think determines how we live and who we are. That’s why we need to think about what we’re thinking about.

It’s so important for us to understand this because if we don’t learn how to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (see 2 Corinthians 10:4-5), we won’t live the life Jesus died to give us – a life of peace with God, peace with ourselves, great relationships, real joy and the ability to become all God has created us to be. It comes down to choosing to believe what God says (the truth) more than we believe our feelings, what other people say or our circumstances.

The Bible specifically talks about three things we must do to develop a mind that agrees with God. I want to share the benefits of each of them.

“Set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things…” (Colossians 3:2 AMP). This is the key to resisting temptation. See, when we make up our mind ahead of time what we will and won’t do, then when temptation comes, we have laid a foundation to make right choices and are more likely to successfully overcome the temptation. For example, before you get into social situations, decide “I am not going to gossip. I’m not going to ruin someone’s reputation and offend the Holy Spirit.” Other temptations may require you to decide things like “I’m not going to eat four candy bars today.” Or “I am not going to look at pornography on the Internet.” Or “I am not going to hang out with people who are bad influences.” My point here is, we don’t want to wait until the temptation comes and then react based on how we feel about it.

“Do not be conformed to this world…but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind…” (Romans 12:2 AMP). Renewing the mind is an ongoing process. Every day we need to take time to study the Word so we can purposely think according to what it says. And we can’t keep one or two “junky” areas in our thought life because it just keeps us from the best God has for us. I’m not saying we have to be perfect with this, but we need to make progress each day so we can keep our mind renewed and grow in our relationship with God.

“Gird up the loins of your mind…” (1 Peter 1:13 NKJV). You are probably thinking, What does that mean? It’s basically saying we need to get all the junk in our mind out of our way so we can keep running our race in Christ Jesus and have the victory God wants us to have. Then we are ready for action to follow God’s plan for our lives.
One practical way we can accomplish these three directions from God is to have a think session every day. Just sit down and say, “I’m going to think about some things on purpose.” Then spend some time thinking about scriptures that renew your mind with the truth about what God says – about His love for you, His plan for you, how He wants you to live and behave... Use a concordance to find verses that cover areas you are struggling with or need to know more about. I want to encourage you to write some of them down and put them places where you will see them every day, like the bathroom mirror or refrigerator.

If you will commit to set your mind on God’s Word, renewing your mind with truth and getting stinkin’ thinkin’ out of your way, then you will experience the fullness of new life that we can all have in Christ. All it takes is a little more progress one day at a time.

The Change of Mind That Changed My Life
JOYCE MEYER

Someone once said, “When you’re finished changing, you’re finished.” Change is a part of life. It’s also uncomfortable and can be scary. Here are a few facts about change:

It’s a process. And it’s often a lengthy one that requires long-term commitment.

It’s frightening. Even though we usually want change, we also like to be in control. But we have to be willing to let go of something to move toward something new—without knowing exactly what the new thing will be like.

It takes action. It comes when we confront our fears.

Now, nothing in your life changes until you change your mind. Romans 12:2 says, “Be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind” (AMP). A lot of people are trying to change, but they haven’t changed their minds about anything and are thinking the same way they’ve always thought about things. Proverbs 23:7 says, “As he thinks in his heart, so is he.” In other words, where the mind goes, the man follows. So we can’t keep doing things the way we’ve always done them and hope for a different result.

What’s been on your mind lately? Do you think about what you’re thinking about? Do you realize how your thoughts affect your life? Thoughts are powerful! And the good news is, we can choose what we think about.

This has been one of the most life-changing revelations of my life. I used to believe I couldn’t help what I thought. If I woke up in the morning and my thought was, I’m depressed, then I just obeyed it and was depressed all day. But Jesus died to set us free, and one of the greatest freedoms we have is freedom of choice.

It was so wonderful to realize that my mind didn’t have to be a trash can for the devil all day or a channel for him to do his dirty work through. And the key to my victory over the enemy was learning to renew my mind.

How do we renew our mind? With the Word of God. The Bible is our instruction manual on how to live a victorious life. We have to·study·it, not just read it, to learn how to think like God thinks and experience the life of overcoming victory we can have in Christ—a life of forgiveness of sins, right relationship with God, the power to live right, peace and joy.

For more than 30 years I’ve been studying the Word, and I’m still learning every single day. We need to be lifetime learners of God’s Word because it has the life, power and anointing we need to change.

There’s actually a transforming power that takes place when we study the Word. Hebrews 4:12 in The Amplified Bible says this power is active, energizing and effective, and it exposes, analyzes and judges the thoughts and purposes of the heart. The Word of God is like a mirror: When we look into it, we see the way we are and what needs to chnge. That’s why it’s so important for us to renew our minds every day through the Word.·

Here’s how it works: We hear the truth and are convicted by it as we recognize what we’re doing is wrong. We repent of our sin; this means we are sorry and want to turn away from it. We ask God to help us change because we can’t change without Him. Then we study Scriptures about the area we are dealing with, such as unforgiveness, anger, self-control and so on.

God’s Word is the medicine we need to heal our souls! I encourage you to go to the Word like you would medicine. When you’re struggling with something, pick it up and say, “I’m going to take my medicine.” Then begin to say what God says, rather than what you think or feel that doesn’t line up with His Word.

We have to learn to believe what God says more than what we think and feel because a renewed mind is stronger than feelings.

Remember, you can choose to think about whatever you want to think about. Choose to think about the truth in God’s Word and there won’t be room for anything else. You’ll find that when you get your mind straightened out you’ll get your life straightened out.
